FORTY-SEVEN

Thanksgiving Break

2023 week forty-seven

The kids built block towers.
'

We had school friends over on Monday for some cardamom coffee, chocolate cherry bread, dress up galore, and making candles. The taper mold was slow going but by the end of the day we had over forty-four candles.

The kids raked the biggest leaf pile they could manage.

And apparently our robot vacuum is powerless against leaves. There are so many leaves in our house.

The kids stole my phone at some point to make selfies. Some sweet...

some strange.

V made the coconut cream pie all by herself. She had never made a pie and needed me there step by step, but it was all her. And though I never did get a piece (it's the crowd favorite so I let others have some), I heard it was just as good if not better than mine.

V wanted to make a Thanksgiving doll decoration for our front table. V also wrote and directed a Thanksgiving Play for the cousins to perform after dinner.

The spread.

We had a smaller gathering this year, only 17 of us for dinner.

A dozen more joined us for pie.

Snuggly little Picholas.

Matt took his drone out and completely severed a propeller.

Friday birthday lunch for Grandpa at LSA burger in Denton.

On Saturday evening, Grandma, Veronica, and I got to go see our favorite local production of the Nutcracker. It was just as good as always!

Y'all. Stuffing mashed potato waffle. It is the best way to reheat those leftovers. Top with a little turkey, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Like a loaded Thanksgiving hashbrown.

This photo is titled: "I have a bad headache, please leave me alone for a while." The boy obviously listened.

We got some lovely garlands from Costco and spent the last few days of break finding places to hang them around the house. The cats preferred them to be on the floor so they could play in them.
