We took the kids to Halloween City for our family date this week. Theo declared it to be the single greatest date we ever had with him. |
2023 week forty
Spirit Week at school. On Fandom day V was Anne of Green Gables (unplanned so were FOUR other girls in her class. They don't even read it in school so it was so surprising.) and Theo was a fan of NASA. |
I got to borrow my friends McGonagall costume to be a fan of Harry Potter and also of Maggie Smith. |
There's been a snake haunting the playground. It finally was out long enough for me to call Matt to come ID it. It was apparently just a grumpy old rat snake part way through shedding. He held it up for the kids to see and let some of them pet it before we put it in a bucket to wait for animal control. It was probably a day most of them wont forget. They were so excited to see Mr. Cole. One yelled, "Mrs. Cole has told us so much about you. All nice things. All of them are true!" |
Can you spot it? |
Dress like your Dad grilling day. |
Also dress like your mom day. Nailed it.

Theo has just the coolest teacher. She lets them spiral cut apples if they bring one for snack. And then they measure the skins and try to make it across the US to Oregon with the length of skins (1 inch = 1 mile or something). If you have a "real juicer" then you get to wear the special juicer glasses. |
A cat and a cuppa in the early morning. |
On Saturday Theo had a birthday party. V set up a face painting booth for him. |
Action shots during the scavenger hunt. |
Matt hid Pokemon cards around the house and yard with clues leading to each one and eventually to the piñata. |
Thank you to everyone who could help make his day special. He'll be 8 next weekend! |
Chewy pumpkin cookies. They were indeed chewy, and quite delicious, but bore absolutely no resemblance to anything pumpkiny. Oh well. We'll still eat them all anyway. |
My nephew helping me get eggs. |
The back poles are going up! |
V loves her baby cousins. |
I had to work today when the kids were out of school. They got to spend the night at their cousins house and then join them all at a pumpkin patch. |
Loveliest cousin friends. |
Theo found the mummified remains of a frog. Despite the look on his face, he was actually deeply delighted. |
Quotes
Veronica
I definitely do not remember the context of this, "I was slicing boys left and right and no one was complaining!"
Theodore
"What would you do if I was sick and I vomited into my hands and rubbed it on my face? And when you asked me what I was doing I just said I was acting like a fly? What even would your reaction be?!" Laughs hysterically.
