THIRTEEN

The only photo we took on Matthew's birthday. After a celebratory dinner of blackened chicken sandwiches and walnut hazelnut brownies, we all headed outside for the lovely air. I love this photo. You can see so much of Veronica's animation as she tells me a story. And you can see love in my eyes -exhaustion also -but love.

2023 week thirteen

On Thursday, I sent V to open up a can of beans for our dinner. She thought she needed to get the lid all the way off and tried to pull it off with her fingers and sliced through her thumb. Matt took her to the ER in case she needed stitches. Luckily she didn't need any, but it was close.

The shed is finally complete!

To celebrate, Matt and the kids had a sleepover in the shed. Matt definitely didn't love it as much as they did. They thought it was the best thing ever.

When the kids woke up on April Fools, they found their beds occupied by various creatures having breakfast or reading.

Also, Barbie went on a date with the Xenomorph.

After breakfast we headed to an Easter Egg hunt at St. Ann's Parish.

Veronica wanted to dress like a ... well I don't really know, and Theo wanted to look like a cool cowboy.

We stopped by Costco and Theo found this amphora of wine. V was so excited babbling about the relief images of Jason and the Argonauts and the Golden Fleece. Theo all but got on his knees and begged me to buy the bottle for him. He said he'd even pay for it with his own money. I consented. Then V said, "Will you please chug it today so we can have the bottle?" My goodness, who does she think I am?

Theo's "April Fool's" joke on our friend while he was fixing our sprinkler line was to lay out some of his animals in an around the hole when he wasn't looking.

Saturday evening we had a fancy hot dog party for Matt's birthday.

We smoked a bunch of sausages and had an outrageous number of toppings to make the hot dog of your dreams. We had such a fun time, and we had perfect weather so we opened up both the french doors and most people got to sit outside in the gorgeous evening.
