FORTY-EIGHT

So many photos like this are on my phone.

2022 week forty-eight

We had quite a nice Thanksgiving break. Travis and Mariette came and visited us for a couple of days.

I made a lovely chocolate cake for Travis's birthday. Matt thought it would be funny to put actual sparklers on the cake instead of candles. In theory it was funny. In reality...

he got a rather serious burn on two of his fingers. And the sparkler dust got all over the cake and ruined it. Luckily I had made a second smaller cake with the surplus batter. Unluckily, Matt was injured for the rest of the week.

Thanksgiving looked a little different this year as several members of the extended family suddenly got Covid. We had to have smaller separate Thanksgiving dinners. To make the kids feel better about it, we just played board games all day long.

And after dinner we watched Miracle on 34th street while I did dishes because our dishwasher broke this week. On Saturday the new one was delivered and it is such a luxury.

We had so many turkey carcasses to turn into stock. We have an excess of smoked turkey broth now.

Saturday afternoon we went to celebrate our friend Liam's birthday. They had a video game truck and the kids thought it was awesome.

Saturday evening we went to The Nutcracker ballet with a couple cousins (only one pictured).

This year.

Last year.

The first time we went to The Nutcracker 5 years ago.
