FOURTEEN

Our Easter eggs this year.

2021 week fourteen

Last Monday was Matts birthday. He wanted an almond joy pie. I made our family favorite coconut cream pie and added almonds and almond extract and a layer of chocolate ganache at the bottom. It tasted exactly like an almond joy.

Theo's preschool Four Seasons Learning is just the coolest. He comes home with the most amazing crafts and projects, but what's more, can tell me everything about them. This is the coral reef they made.
V had her own silly project this week. She took this gift bag and made it into a hat and became immediately and weirdly attached to it. We accidentally left it in Walmart and she started sobbing until we went back to get it. She's been basically inseparable from it all week.

For April Fools Day I brought in a package of these silly glasses. My class was doing the morning announcements for the school and they were a huge hit in their silly glasses. I had some extra, so V gave some to her teacher and a few classmates.

One of my students' mother is just the sweetest and boy does she know my love language. Every month it seems she's bringing me some spectacular baked good from a lovely bakery in Denton called Ravelin. This Italian Easter bread was perfect.

V got Salem dressed for Easter. He didn't appreciate it.

So she gave him an Easter egg with a live fly in it to make him feel better. He loved it.

Dyeing eggs with cool whip with Grandma.

Dyeing eggs while I try to finish up my birthday Lego set.

I am so impressed with how Lego fashioned the Statue of Liberty.

We tried a new recipe for Easter: an Italian Easter ricotta, chard, egg pie.

It was like a lovely chard-y quiche with slices of egg in it. It helped that I made probably the best pie crust of my life, but it was really tasty and fun.

Chick update. They look like silly tweens. Bridget is gone (RIP) so now the chicks are integrated with the old hens. Bridget was awful to them and was constantly trying to kill them. Karen and Mrs. Rogers couldn't care less as long as they got to snack on the fatty chick feed.

Salem update. V says he's her husband.

Quotes:

Theodore

"I'm so itchy and Salem is so scritchy!"

Veronica

"I have toots waiting to get out. My gas chamber is full!" Nope, we're not saying that one...
