FIFTEEN

If you can be holding a chicken, you should be.

2020 week fifteen. Quarantine week four.

Daft birdies trying to share a nest. Not like there's an empty nesting box RIGHT NEXT to the favored one...

Theo used all his allowance money for a construction lego set. He built it himself, tore it down and rebuilt it. All week.

The kids made a lean-to after finishing Hatchet this week with Matthew.

Vera spent all her allowance money on a new Frozen dress. She's been living in it and singing loudly  all week.

Social distancing egg hunt with the cousins. They divided their yard in two with a festive ribbon and each family had their own side. It was a beautiful early evening egg hunt.

Dinner chaos.

One day I sent V in the front to get some mint for our lemon waters. She accidentally brought back marjoram and we discovered our new favorite drink.

Happy Easter!

Does the Easter bunny bring you personal jars of pickles?

Matt took the kids on a long ride to grandmas house to wave at Grandma and Grandpa and chalk color their drive way.

Picking peas for our dinner.

Watching Charlie Brown in the cutest way they could.

Easter dinner. Celebrating new life, new year, renewal, rebirth, the earth coming back to life in all its pastel and vibrant wonder. The Easter Bunny brought Matt some charcuterie. I made ricotta. Olives and pearl mozzarella (Theo's favorite), baby carrots and radishes that needed to be thinned, with dip in lovely little egg cups. Homemade focaccia. And the most glorious bowing tulips. I had to grab the ones that looked like they were wearing royal robes.

Purple and green snap peas from our garden, herb grilled chicken legs, deviled eggs (made by the children that's why they're lumpy), angel food cake and a mountain of berries. V was very excited that we got to eat off of Grandma Ronnie's china plates.

 Quotes

Theodore

After having a really rough morning,
T- "My tummy hurts. It's full of anger and it makes my body faster than my heart."
Me- "What can we do to help you?"
T- "Play a silly game that makes me laugh. When I laugh, the hard anger turns to liquid in my belly and it turns to blood and it's in my heart then and I feel better."

Matt playing Led Zeppelin really loudly while he does dishes,
T- "What kind of music IS THIS!?"

Theo threw a ball into our Spanish speaking neighbors back yard, he climbed on the fence to get their attention,
T- "Excuse me! How do you say "Ball" in Spanish?"
Neighbor- "Pelota."
T- "Can I have my pelota back?"

T squished an almost dead cockroach with a napkin.
"I will pick it up but I wont touch the cockroach grease."

Me- "How good are Mama kisses?"
T- "Better than NOODLES!"

Veronica

I styled my hair differently,
V- "Ooh Mama you look beautiful! You look like Miriam from Indiana Jones!"
Matt- "Old Miriam or Young Miriam."
V without pausing to think, "Old Miriam."

They are in love with Indiana Jones. They've watched all the films over the last few weeks and play "Adventure Kids" at least once a day. Matt made both of them "whips" out of some soft yellow rope. They get vests and hats on and run around our yard jumping over obstacles and securing rare artifacts.
