TWENTY-FIVE

We basically only have produce photos this week. Beefy yellow tomato from our garden. Every other tomato that is within chicken height has been pecked mercilessly. They seem to ignore the several diverse water stations I have set up for them around the yard in favor of getting all their water from my tomatoes.

V worked really hard on this hair creation. She has named it The Bonnet Braid. When she sees this picture she sighs and says, "It just looks so good."

Veronica

I used some frozen leftover crab shells to add a fishy umami to my pho broth and V came in to see what I was cooking. "Uhm. Are we having crab shells for dinner? I don't know if I'm going to like this dinner. But I will still try it." I can't believe how willing and brave this girl is to try things. She has a lot of faith in my cooking to look at a pot of crab shells and think, "Well, it might be good..."

Talking about how our neighbors can grow much longer and stronger nails and hair than we can because they are Mexican. "They have stronger nails? Can they climb trees like squirrels?"

Me- "V I think you're really beautiful. Do you think I'm beautiful?"
V- hesitatingly "Well... you're not beautiful when you get me in trouble... Only when you smile and say it's ok for me to do things."
