TWENTY-SIX

"Look I made a lego Minecraft mask." I have no idea how she even knows what Minecraft is, but there you are.

2019 week twenty-six -halfway through the year.
Lord of all summer sandwiches. Toasted white bread, mayo, garden fresh tomatoes, everything salt and chives. Heavenly with a glass of iced tea -or Topo Chico.

We prepared for the 4th by making family tie dye shirts. V and T picked classic designs. I attempted Japanese-style shibori methods for mine and Matt's.

My black sunflowers are so delightful. Each stalk will produce about a dozen flowers. And they'll turn a deep velvety burgundy by the end. These may be my new favorite flowers.

Bean burrito break at the splash pad with friends.

Papa has been itching to get a chocolate dipped cone for weeks so on Saturday while I took a bit of a rest he snuck these two out of the house on the pretense of letting them try their first ever dipped cone. We know the truth. It was all for Matt.

Sunday morning bike ride/park time.

They found a dying cicada. It came to blows and fisticuffs deciding who got to hold it...

Grandma came with us and got a few photos for us. Our trails have periodic work out stations. Here the kids are challenging my endurance.

Mama and Buddy. You can see Bug in the distance zipping down the hill.

Quotes

Theodore

Telling V a story in the back seat "Once upon a time there was a birdie named Dirty who said 'I'm a beauty from America.' And then it got pooped on and peed on. And there was a boot named Kick Anne. The End."

"Veronica please be a nice teenager some day."

"Swimming without splashing is boring. It's how teenagers swim."

Veronica

"But it's so cold in here (Inside Winco. Not cold. Ambient temperature.) Surely they (otter pops) must be a little bit frozen?"
