FORTY

Texas doesn't do majestic scenery very well, but it gets it right with thunderclouds.

2018 week forty

Digging in the dirt.

My silly little goblin.

We love dark and still October mornings.

Matt went to a concert with his friend to see Odeza. It started raining and the entire Coachella-esque lawn audience swarmed inside and started crazy dancing. Matt and his friend even got hit on.

Sunday morning Texas State Fair. First stop: Ferris Wheel.

I let Matt just take the kids alone and stayed on the ground chatting with the other grandmas.

I love how much they love this.

Then V and I went on a bobsled ride. She loved it even though it went pretty fast.

My Frankensein's Monster cross-stitch took third place. It was fun to walk into the craft building and see it.

We spent a surprisingly long amount of time in the Ford truck display. The kids loved climbing around in the trucks.

And we competed against Papa trying to pull up a heavy weight. We won only because a worker helped us right at the end. Our team name was the Skeleton Princesses. Matt's team name was the Thunder Cats.
Quotes:

Theodore

Theodore describing oatmeal, "Every time I take a bite it tastes rotten like rat food... or poop."

"I love you sweet sweet sweet. You're the best Mama of them all. Now it's time for you to leave."

Matt- "Theodore, what happened to your back? It's all scratched up."
Theodore- "Forks and knives are sharp."
Matt- "It looks like you scraped your back at the park. Is that what happened?"
Theodore- "No. Forks and knives are sharp. They can scratch you."
Matt- "I don't think this was from a fork or knife. I think it happened at the park."
Theodore- "No. Well, forks and knives ARE really sharp. It was probably that."

Veronica

"In autumn it's dark in the mornings so it can feel HALLOWEENY! *squeal*"

Veronica has been writing up a storm lately. Every piece of paper she can find she sounds out long lists of words. Here's a list I found this morning:
ibol = eyeball
snac =snake
crab
bat
brd = bird
ciyode = coyote
frog
crocudil = crocodile
awl = owl
hipo = hippo
lizrd = lizard
sel = seal
clam
algadr = alligator
fox
bir = bear
pad pir = panda bear
wolris = walrus
bone
settus = I have no idea

She's been very interested in trying to write in cursive. I taught her "Mama" and now she writes it everywhere. By the way, this is a picture of her and me looking at a George Washington Statue. He's the one with "Yay" written on his shirt.
