TWENTY-THREE

Theodore slept with a smushed cicada in his bed for a few nights in a row. When it was just crumbs I threw it away.
2018 week twenty-three

At Tech Rehearsal. Her first time on a stage and she loved it.

Being cute waiting for their chocolate croissant in Grapevine.

Big family breakfasts are my favorite. My mom and John came to visit for a long weekend and we tried to keep them plied with the best food we could.

We're having a very good tomato year. This photo would be even more impressive if I could have photographed the dozens of cherry tomatoes that my children eat every day. They're starting to get greedy and pick the very pale red ones. They know that even if it isn't ripe I tell them they have to eat it if they pick it. Maybe I should change the rule as it doesn't seem to be deterring them.

Friday morning I drove my mom and John down into Dallas. We went to the Museum of Art. We had a really nice time. I hadn't been there since I was pregnant with Veronica. I forgot how much I like it. I especially liked the recreation of Coco Chanel's home on the French Riviera. I love seeing rooms set up and art displayed the way it would be if you visited the home.

Dress rehearsal!

How to hug in a tutu.

Day of the recital. The room was full of expanding energy. For a few minutes I thought my poor little thing was going to lose it. But when she came out on stage she was just a beam of a smile and did everything that she should have done. I was so proud. I think the whole audience was crying. I definitely was, and I'm not going to comment on if Matthew was also crying...

All puffs and baby legs.

We were so proud of you little bug. I think Theo was the only one who wasn't enjoying himself. If the ballet boys weren't on stage he was loudly asking if we could just leave now.

Back in grapevine for another coffee and croissant.

When your pretend pony is an old paint bucket.

"Mama, I am being so helpful and helping Theo participate." as she drags him around by his shirt collar. Library morning.

Quotes:

Veronica

"Are you ready to see how puffed out my body is?!"

"I am so brave and beautiful. Aren't you proud of your brave and beautiful bug?"

We saw a bisected squirrel on our morning bike ride.
T- Someone shoot that squirrel?
V -No I think that it is just the end of his life?

Theodore

Gum Lettuce = mint leaves

"When I grow up into a frog and Veronica the birdie and you and we will all ride our bikes."

"Poop go into sewer drain. I wish I could be poop!"

Crorn = Corn and it's the cutest thing ever.

"I will NEVER listen to you! I will INTERRUPT you! And LEAVE YOU AT COSTCO! On a HIGH SHELF! And NEVER COME BACK!" and it's not the cutest thing ever...
