THIRTY-SIX

I love a good ying yang cat.

2024 week thirty-six

On Labor Day, Matt and I got to go on a little brunch date at Hemingway Brunch. It was very tasty.

Matt spent all weekend upgrading our attic entrance. He went from a hole in the ceiling and a ladder underneath it.

And he ended with a retractable ladder from the ceiling. This is step one in total garage makeover. The man cannot live without a project. (His comeback over my shoulder is "That's why I married you.")

Kip dramatically napping.

We had to stop at CVS on the way to her middle school event so she pulled up a chair, grabbed a magazine, and sat there looking so very eleven years old.

She is so cool.

Kip and Salem being cute frenemies.

On Saturday morning V had her first cross country meet.

She did so well. She was so happy and said she really pushed herself to run fast. She finished 2nd for our school for Middle School Girls, and 35 out of 137 runners of her group.

On Sunday morning Theo wanted to let the chickens roam the yard. The guinea hens immediately flew to the roof of our coop and then to the roof of a neighbors house. They stood on the roof squawking as loudly as possible (7:30am). This is Theo in the alley trying to lure them with dried minnows. One eventually flew off the roof and into the yard with two boxer dogs. She was chased up a tree where she continued to scream. The other bird got spooked and flew home and calmly walked back into the chicken run. There was nothing we could do about the other bird so we just went inside to have our breakfast.

During breakfast, the bird flew back into our yard and settled in the branches of our oak tree. I ran outside in my apron over my robe (looking very chic) and tried to knock it out of the tree with the broom handle. Matt felt that needed to be documented.

Theo caught a sweet little baby spiny lizard. He also spent all weekend outside in the unseasonably beautiful autumny weather.

Quotes

Matt -"Sorry it took me so long to get back. The traffic was crazy! There were so many people out!"
Me- "Why do you think it was so crowded?"
Matt- "Everyone has Autumn in their whiskers and has to run errands!"
