TWENTY-SEVEN

Coffee and cat still life.

2024 week twenty-seven

We are exactly half way through the year and halfway through summer vacation, and all is lovely and still and I refuse to do anything but soak it up.

The best way to spend your afternoon reading a good book.

The cousins came home for the summer. Theo surprised himself by enjoying playing Calico Critters with his cousin for hours.

4th of July Children's Parade

Grumpy gus. Crowds and heat can be difficult to manage. I love his angry face with bubbles and a stilt man in the background. Haha.

Veronica competed in a watermelon eating contest. The girl across the table was complaining that it wasn't fair because V's piece was smaller. V, very graciously offered to trade. Then the girl won with the smaller piece. But I think V felt like she won since she was the better sport about it. Such a lady.

4th of July swim party with friends.

Theo's incredible belly flop form.

This is definitely NOT a photo of kids lighting illegal fireworks...

We tried letting the Guineas roam the yard. Kip left them alone, but they wanted none of the great outdoors. They were so frantic at bedtime that one flew on the roof of the coop, one got stuck in the netting, and one seems to have overshot their mark and landed in the neighbors yard. No sign of her except for a few feathers...

Mr. Sesame went home to Jesus this week. He's playing his loud reveille on repeat in heaven now.

Pickles: indispensable wall holder.

Kip's cousin Koda got to stay with us for the weekend.

Matt, being a delight at work as usual.

Theo and the unauthorized dragonfly. There are two bugs that we DO NOT freeze for pinning: dragonflies and bees. He was really mad that I wouldn't let him keep it because it was so large and docile. Too bad. They eat mosquito larvae. Put him back to work.

Silly Nicknames we have to Veronica that she only allows me to call her. If Theo tries, she is INSTANTLY angry:

Veroncia
Veronix
Veronicup
Branicup
Vrinika
Vronzibonz
Veronicana
VeRearEnd (admittedly, only Theo calls her this and I would be annoyed too.)
VeRear
Vronz
V the flea
Buttercup
Bubs

Theodore has fewer nicknames:

Theo
Theope
Theodork (V and our friend's daughter Phoebe call him this, but he does call her Fleabe, so alls fair...)
T the flea
Jazzy Stazzy
Bunny
Bunnykins
Boykins
Bubs (this is confusing when both of them can be called Bubs)
SunBun
Bunnyboy
TheocoreDole (from one of our First Grade Teachers)
