TWENTY-SIX

Happy Mid-Year! This beautiful little nest is in one of our plum trees.

2023 week twenty-six
Summertime in a photo: reading a book with a cat lounging on a sunny carpet.

Look at these fantastic boots I found at an antique store. They are WWI cavalry boots. They just about looked like they would fit me and I was sorely tempted.

V went to scout camp this week. It was exceptionally hot, but she had a great time nonetheless.

Archery is always her favorite. She earned the nickname Katniss Everdeen which she was quietly delighted about.

While V was gone, Theo and I went to Petsmart to look into upgrading our hermit crab set up, but instead came home with a kitten.

Theo very solemnly asked me if this cat could be "his cat" and we agreed that really just meant he is responsible for feeding and has the right to have him sleep in his bed every night. This does NOT mean he has the right to dictate who can hold the cat and when -an important distinction that needed to be discussed explicitly.

The baby settled in right away being Theo's little sleep buddy.

The first few days with Salem were tricky, but in general they are playing more than they are fighting. In general...

When V came home we didn't tell her about the kitten and she found him in Theo's room. Then commenced trying to name this little guy. No one was pleased with anyone's suggestions, so in exasperation I said, "We all like to eat pickles, so the cats name is Pickles!" His full name is Sergeant Pickles Robert.
