THIRTY-SIX

We spent our weekend in my children's heaven: Oklahoma with cousins.

2020 week thirty-six

These best friend cousins played so hard for two days straight. They were in tears when we had to come home.

They played with the goats.

Theo led C on many many grasshopper hunting adventures. Theo begged me to never cut the grass in our backyard again so we could have a "hurricane of grasshoppers" like at the cousins house.

Then we went to the cousin's Oma's house to ride horses. V is giving T some horse riding tips.

They tried to catch rabbits.

Everyone saddled up and went on a long hike/ride deep into the property.

Bareback got a bit tiresome, but luckily K let Theo ride behind her.

Sometimes he had to walk because even that got tiresome.

V had the time of her life and we nearly had to pry her off the horse. She felt completed. This is all she's talked about and wanted to do for months.

Even I got a chance to ride. After a minute I got more comfortable and did a bit of trotting and cantering. It was so fun but I didn't have stirrups which was a different experience. And it absolutely killed my legs the next day.

We took a long break at a creek and everyone had snacks.

And Theo fell in as quickly as he could. Then everyone hiked down the creek a bit further to a deeper spot and all the kids stripped down and stepped into a children's book and went swimming in a creek in the Oklahoma countryside at the end of summer.

Quotes:

Theodore:

"I'm so glad the mean kid doesn't go to my school anymore. Do you know what he did? He never shared his grasshoppers with anyone! I always share my grasshoppers."

"I'm going to go out in the meadow and drink the morning mist." because Theo is a poet in his heart.

T- "Look! I can see the dump!"
Me- "Actually that's a hill."
T- "Wow! A real mountain!" prairie life problems...

T- "He's curious. Just like George. But people just call him George because they don't know that he's so curious!"

Veronica:

Me- "You need to write a sentence here with the word "belief" in it.
V- "I belief in chocolate cake!"
Me- "That doesn't work."
