TEN

Living the dream way out in Ponder.

So much... something. Probably fun. This was moments before he gashed his forehead open on the corner of a countertop at a friends house on a Sunday night. We superglued it and it was fine all day Monday. Then Tuesday at school while I'm subbing he busted it open again and I had to go get him. We went to the doctor that afternoon and they superglued it better. The next morning he was fine and ready for school until I noticed he had pinkeye. So no school again. He was thrilled.

On Sunday afternoon last week we went to see the local production of Peter and the Wolf. A few of the dancers are highschoolers at V's school. She was excited to get photographed with the big girls.

We also saw some friends from school!

And a few of the ballet friends!

Thursday night my uncle Rod was in town for a conference and wanted to meet up for dinner.

We took him to Hard Eight to experience some good Texas barbecue and some really fun atmosphere. The kids just sat quietly for an entire hour eating coleslaw and ribs and sausage. Everyone had a great time.

On Friday Matt was home from work so we took Theo on a little date before I went to take my last teacher certification test. We went to a little coffee shop that is owned and run by a business-centered high school. I tell you what, I'm a big fan of these charter schools around here! We talked with some of the students and the principal. This charter school is owned by the same company that runs V's school. Theo loved playing some games with us and generally just having all of our attention.

On Saturday Matt got to go with some friends to a barbecue competition. He was also chosen to be a finalist judge for the pork rib table. Basically a dream come true.

Sunday morning we went with our friends the Murdocks out to the Senior Murdock's property in Ponder. They had several power wheels batteries charged up, and the kids raced back and forth and through the water for the entire morning. They both said this is what they were grateful for tonight at bedtime.

Sunday afternoon they just played and played and played. Here they are wrestling with their shirts off because, "Taking our shirts off makes us look tougher."

We had our first outside dinner of the season. It was breezy but pleasant. Our lovely Oklahoma cousins brought us some of their local beef a few weeks ago. We had a spring steak salad. Theo cried when I had to cut him off from more meat.

Quotes

Theodore

"I didn't know I could go home early from preschool from an injury! I thought you just had to be sick!" he was so thrilled when he got picked up early after re-busting his head open. I hope he doesn't get any ideas...

I'm fixing something leaking under the kitchen sink. Theo comes and leans his elbows on the open cabinet to tell me, "You're not a plumber. Are you sure you know what you're doing? You aren't a professional. You need to call a plumber." I fixed the leak myself, thankyouverymuch.

"Hurry inside, Mama, so the cold can't catch us!"

Theo woke up upset about having to go to school. He stayed face down on the pillow and shouted, "I'm going to RUIN this day!" He keeps his promises...

On Saturday I let the kids watch some Kung Fu Panda in the afternoon while I did some chores. I come in from outside to find Theo sobbing and Veronica sadly closing the iPad.
Me- "What happened!?! Are you hurt?!"
Theo- sobbing "It's TOOOOOOO SAD!" proceeds to sob for 5 minutes until I can get it out of them why they are crying. Apparently a Mama had to leave a baby Panda and Theo could NOT take it. Poor little thing. I had to try really hard not to laugh or cry myself. He had so many feelings.

Veronica

Chanting while she's waiting for barbecue, "I'm ready for some MEAT! I'm ready for some MEAT!"

"Look at this! We have wrestling muscles and wrestling moods! We're going to get on top of Papa and just RRRRRRRRRRGH!"
