So much Christmas happened this week. First we made all of our friend/teacher gifts and packaged them all up. Then I got ALL the christmas cookies baked and packaged, and all the advent treats and trinkets purchased, all the Christmas decorations up, and all the Christmas presents purchased. Thanksgiving happened too. And it was lovely. So lovely, I didn't take a single photo. But this last piece of coconut pie I'm currently eating is perfect. |
2019 week forty-eight
Early dark morning breakfast outside. V has been really into making me tea and toast. Those are two of my most favorite things, so I'm happy to oblige her. And yes, I'm wearing wooden shoes. I can leave my slippers on and still slip them into these guys. The chickens really make a mess of the yard, and if its muddy, forget it. Klompen are perfect. |
V requested a selfie. Still working on angles... |
The kids spent the entire Thanksgiving break at my table making perler bead creations. |
Theo succeeded in NOT TOUCHING ANYTHING at the antique store, so we went next door to this cute diner and got ice cream. |
But most of what we did this week was Nutcracker related. It's Veronica's favorite part of ballet. She is an angel this year. |
Cherub, Angels, and one of the Guardian angels. |
She got to go to a special master class with some of the older ballet dancers at her studio. They let all the girls try on a "Clara" dress and hold a nutcracker. She wanted to hold her Angel bear for this year given to her by her Grandpa Dean. She's been carrying that thing everywhere. |
In the class with the big girls. |
Waiting in the wings. |
Sunday morning brunch before the matinee show. |
Being backstage was basically just play time for all of the girls. |
Quotes
Theodore
"Wow this is old. Look how rusty and crusty it is."
Veronica
"I'm just so full of Christmas spirit!"
A friend's mom asked V what she wanted for Christmas, this was her interesting reply:
Jess- "What do want for Christmas?"
V- "A bow and arrow."
Jess- "A bow and arrow? Why?"
V- "So I can help my Papa shoot squirrels. He hangs up their tails in our garage."
Jess- "You want to shoot squirrels with it?!"
V- "Well, I can't really shoot my chickens with it!"
