NINE

While all the other elementary schools were celebrating Dr. Seuss' birthday, our school was celebrating Texas Independence Day. V donned her finest for Rodeo Day.

2019 week nine

She insisted on one more photo at drop off. She really came alive in her rodeo duds. It was like she suddenly felt the fulfillment of her identity. She was probably born to be a cowgirl.

After a cold bike ride, there's nothing like a hot bath and a giant mug of hot chocolate.
When we had friends over, V politely asked if she could do makeup. It quickly devolved into Brave Heart style lipstick face painting. This face pretty well sums up the wild energy in our house during that play date... I'm still finding lipstick on the walls...

Theo's lipstick face paint. After the friends left I popped them into the bath for a quick scrub to get the sticky wax based lipstick off their skin. V's came off no problem. Theo's was all over his eczema sensitive eyelids and even though I used gentle soap and no more pressure than on V's face...

His face was swollen with scabs under his eyes afterward! I couldn't believe it. I felt so badly for him. Poor little thing. They are so painful and sensitive. He just has such sensitive skin.

On Sunday afternoon we went to a ballet production of Peter and the Wolf with local dancers and symphony. It was magical.

Quotes:

Theodore

"What was that noise?! Oh, I think it's just the tonsils."

Veronica

*Scoffs* "Mermaids aren't real. They're just fake believe. Not like fairies."  fake believe! I love that.
