TWENTY-TWO

We had friends over one day this week. I hoped that by making them walk over a mile and play at the park for an hour that they would all take good naps. I was wrong. 

2016 week twenty-two

It started with crawling through prickly squash vines scraping bug eggs off the stems with a razor blade and ended with ripping half the leaves off my tomato plants because they probably have blight. But I know I couldn't quit attempting to garden if I tried. Sigh.

Visiting with cousins and Grandma and Great Grandma. 

I inherited a loom! I'm excited to learn how to weave. I love granny handicrafts.

She was screaming because the blackberry bushes caught her. It's no fun being snaggled in brambles when you're not wearing a shirt.

We have had the most beautiful fungi popping up all over our yard thanks to all this rain. I can't get over them. I love them so much.

Vera and I made jam one day this week. We made strawberry vanilla (I let her cut the strawberries) and spiced peach, and my favorite apricot cherry almond. It was so incredible. It might be the best jam I've ever made or had. It even rivals my mythical plum jam from college.

"After bed" is the phrase she uses instead of "tomorrow" or "in the morning." Those phrases seem too far away, but "after bed" seems close enough.

I'm so hot and stinky. Giraffe will not like me when I'm so hot and stinky.
