FOUR MONTHS

Don't let this photo trick you, it's 102 degrees today.
Today my baby V is four months old. At four months old I can enthusiastically say that I love being a mother and I love my Vera more than I can stand.

To illustrate my point, I will share with you that at the grocery store today, I saw a 6 week old baby and started crying. I cried because he was just so precious. About a year ago, probably even 6 months ago, I would have told you honestly that I didn't really like babies. My V has changed that all.

Also today, I saw a few kids waiting for the bus in their ugly little school uniforms and I started crying. I imagined my little Vera with her grey brown eyes and light brown hair being 5 years old wearing the same ugly uniform and being so cute I couldn't stand it.

At four months she is 24 inches long (taller than 75% of babies her age), 12.6 pounds (lighter than 70% of babies her age), and her head is 41 cm round (just right).

She holds her head up well on her tummy, loves to be standing, reaches for everything, drools on everything, coos and talks to us all day long. When is is all bare she wont stop kicking her legs. She kicks and wiggles and loves it. She shredded the doctors table tissue paper before the doctor even came in to see us! She kicks in the bathtub and LOVES to be in a pool.

She laughs at and stares at her Papa whenever he is around. She is loving the johnny jump up. And she poops at (mostly) predictable times -which seems like a strange thing to add, but it really makes life easier.

When I hold her she cranes her head to be facing forward, and then prefers to rest her feet on my belly and be extended outward in a very Superman-like fashion.

She kicks and wiggles herself all around her bed all night long. And she is obsessed with this wolf stuffed animal:

Her little cheeks look like peaches, and she gives the biggest smiles when you wake her up in the morning. Oh my word, why are babies so cute? We can't get over it.  My favorite thing to hear about her? "She is so calm." Yes, thank heaven.

Also, I knit that sweater. Baby sweaters are 100x better to knit than grown man sweaters. The sweater I knit for Husband took me over 2 years (you just never feel like you're accomplishing anything when each row has like 250 stitches) and her sweater took me under 2 weeks. I made it a size 2T so she'll be able to wear it for a bit.

I know these are "boy" colors, but I really love them and they look so good together and against her coloring. I caught the knitting bug again (I just have to knit when I'm listening to Little House or Harry Potter, it's just a thing, ok?) so you might be receiving knitted hats or mittens for Christmas.
