Root Beer Float Popsicles

Let me just say that I really hate pain meds. I hate the feeling that I cannot control what is happening in my body. To me, being on strong pain meds (like after wisdom teeth or giving birth, not recreationally) feels like when you are at a sleepover and its 330a and you CANNOT be the first to fall asleep (the sharpie awaits your face) and you just close your eyes and you are STILL LISTENING but you are also dreaming about things at the same time; you continue to participate in the conversation but you know you are just speaking nonsense.
That's what pain medicine feels like to me. Like I am still there but I know I am speaking nonsense. Well, when in the hospital before Vera they gave me some drugs for the contractions pain, and immediately I felt that wave. I knew it. Here come the stupid things. So I kept asking Husband, "Am I saying stupid things? Am I making any sense to you?" and he kept reassuring me, "yes, you're fine, why do you keep asking me this?" And then it came. I WANTED to say, "Doesn't a root bear float popsicle sound so delicious right now?" Do you know what I said, "Don't a roast beef, yum?" or something like that. *shakes head*

I don't know why I was thinking about root beer float popsicles. But they really do sound delicious. So here's the pin I pinned a few days before I went into the hospital with accompanying recipe. I will try it some day.

Root Beer Float Popsicles
Makes 6-8 popsicles
1 cup of root beer
1 – 2 cups of vanilla ice cream
If you are using store-bought root beer, open the bottle the night before you make these so that there is no carbonation. If you made your own syrup then mix 1/2 cup of syrup with 1/2 cup of water instead of seltzer. Scoop a few spoonfuls of ice cream into each mold and fill with root beer, leaving about 1/2 inch at the top. They will expand a bit in the freezer. Insert popsicle sticks and freeze until solid.

  1. A few things. 1. These are making me drool. 2. I always ask myself why we didn't hang out more every time I read your blog. Also glad to know my love for Kenny Loggins is that apparent haha! I should chill out. 3. That Harry Potter email you sent Nicole is seriously killing me. Best thing ever.
