On Sunday one of our cocoons hatched (?) and out came a lovely little swallowtail butterfly. It is still amazing to me that my fat little caterpillar turned itself into this! The other two have still not hatched so I'm not holding my breath for those guys.
This one was a male. The female is brown with yellow and blue.
He hung out here for most of the day before he took off. While I was hanging clothes on the line to dry this morning a lovely little swallowtail bounced past me. He looked a little familiar.
Husband took this sweet but blurry photo the other day while we were playing with Vera and Dinah. Vera was being sweet. Dinah was being crazy. See below.
If you'll notice one half of her upper lip (Do you call it a lip on a cat?) was hanging over the edge of the hand hold on a cardboard box. We would poke the edge of the hole with our finger and she'd either try to stick her face out or try to catch us with a paw.
I don't know why people say they don't like cats. Sure they don't come when you call them, but they are so funny. Plus, Dinah plays fetch so she's basically a dog, right?
