Husband was gone all weekend. He left Friday morning and will come back late tomorrow night. It's hard to be home all alone for so long. But because I knew he was going to be gone, I compiled a list of everything that I could do around the house to get it (finally) all set up.
So on Friday after I subbed I did yard work for a few hours. It was really hard. Our yard is covered in about a trillion leaves, sticks, and acorns. Raking them up is hard and miserable. I complained to Husband that I just "couldn't get into it." He laughed at me. "Who 'gets into' chores?" I do. Just not those kind of chores. I prefer the outside chores that are gardening. I also cleaned our garage and ran a few errands.
On Saturday I cleaned the house, including washing out parts of the vacuum and mopping. I hung up all of our art, cleaned out my old school things, painted a chalkboard wall, and put up all my national geographic maps on the wall of one of our spare bedrooms.
It wasn't a great photo, but it looks great. I love it. All of them are laminated so I don't have to worry about them getting destroyed over time. Then I went to yoga, and broke two of my rules: going to walmart, and running errands in yoga pants. I ran to the bank and got groceries! But that is not all, my friends. THEN I made laundry detergent {
Recipe Here}did laundry, fixed a cabinet shelf and fixed a crack in the grout in our shower. But after dinner I watched two episodes of Downton Abbey after I bought fabric to make a moby and some craft supplies for my calling (Activity Days Leader).
Sunday was not as busy, I paid bills, and read and went to Church. While at Church, I dropped my chapstick which had slightly melted. And I had to run home to clean off the grease stain, but not before I dropped my tithing envelope down the air vent! It was irretrievable. Our Relief Society presidency came by for a visit, and I wrote a letter to a friend. I made a delicious dinner for Husband's brothers and mom (clam and shrimp chowder and garlic cheese biscuits) BUT when I was about to leave to bring the food over, I opened the cabinet and a COCKROACH crawled out. I had a minor meltdown for 30 minutes until I trapped it under a mason jar. Even then, I was itchy all evening.
Today was I was super busy. I set up the baby's room, I put up shelves, I got my hair trimmed, went to Ikea, and when I came home, I made a guest bed from a leftover boxspring {
Tutorial Here}, treated for roaches, did a final cleaning, and took photos of everything. I was so busy, and it feels great to have accomplished so much. I can't wait for Husband to come home and to see all my hard work. Enjoy photos of our house! There are a million.

Your house looks great! I can't believe how much you got done in a weekend! It was a much better tour than the skype tour and I am very impressed and happy for you.
ReplyDeleteI love that moment/feeling when you sit down, look around the house, and realize it's really starting to come together. I'm so excited for you! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteLove the coat rack and shelves.. We are in dire need of one of those. Did you make it or find it somewhere. We have no coat closet.
