Ground up Monkey Paw

When I first got pregnant, I felt like I knew the timing was good, but Husband did not.

I think there is a lot of added stress and pressure on a father that is overshadowed by the growing belly. But Husband was not excited. For the first two months he didn't really want to talk about it. Only once we got close to telling everyone via Halloween did he start to talk about it.

Now he not only talks about it, but also brings it up. (I know that sentence looks wrong but I promise that is completely grammatically correct). It makes me so happy to hear any level of concern in his voice about the baby -who we don't know what it is, but everyone has taken to calling it Lancelot. It's a long weird story.

Here are some concerns lately.

Husband got sick. Very sick. When we were trying to prevent me from being sick he read the entire Tamiflu pamphlet to see if it would hurt pregnant people. When my doctor prescribed Tamiflu to me as a preventative measure, he made me ask three times about the effect on pregnant women.

We have these pills we call Dog Poop Pills because of their interesting aroma that is a mix of dog poop and soy sauce. They are supposed to get you healthy quick. He read the back of that bottle as well to make sure it didn't have, as he said, "any ground up monkey paw" or some such business that would be harmful to me.

And this morning. This morning it snowed! Yes, it was 80 degrees three days ago and the snow is really only dusting the cars, but I'll take it. And he had to drive to work, which means I have to ride my bike. He reminded me three times to be really careful so I don't "fall and kill a baby."
