Donuts!

It's late getting around to these photos, sorry. On Halloween, Husband and I made donuts for the neighborhood trick or treaters. We had such a fun time. But first, our pumpkins.

Husbands family always paints pumpkins for Halloween. The week before, we got together and painted these. Mine is the Halloweeny silhouette, and Hubands is the guy getting stabbed. His mom was too worried about the knife, so it had to stay indoors.

Then the night before Halloween, we carved a few pumpkins. The puffy jacket is to hide the sudden baby bump that appeared that day. I carved the little one and Husband carved the one eating mine. There weren't enough pumpkins, so I carved an acorn squash.

On Halloween night we set up a table for donuts and dippings and a table for the fryers. It took us an hour to figure out that the two fryers were tripping the fuse because they sucked too much power. The one fryer worked just fine. If you are wondering about the hazy quality of this photograph, it is because Husband had set up his dad's commercial grade fog machine in front of the house. There were times when I couldn't see beyond my table. We had to turn it down when we heard a) commentary over the loud speaker at the high school asking if there was a fire, and b) fire trucks. The fire trucks never arrived. But all night people said, "Oh so THIS is where the fog machine is! I could see it from blah blah blah two streets over, Oklahoma," or something. It was seriously powerful. I hated it. I don't like the smell of fog juice.

For toppings we had powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate glaze. Everyone was so pumped when they found us. We made WAY too much dough though. It was kind of a slow evening in that neighborhood. But it was still fun. I love Halloween. I already miss you.
