Little nephew getting some love from "Pick-co-co." This is now the only correct way to say Pickles' name. |
2023 week thirty-six: a study in brown, apparently.

Little brown kitten doesn't love the baby seat. |

A brown loaf of fresh bread from Eataly after a delightful lunch with Mrs. Jones. |

A brown affogato with chocolate and vanilla gelato, and candied hazelnuts. Some of Mrs. Jones' pistachio gelato also found its way in there. They should consider offering a pistachio affogato. |

Birthday balloons are one of my favorite little traditions with my students. |
Matt and Jacob and Kaleigh have been working every spare moment at their new house taking off the popcorn finishing on the ceilings and mudding, sweeping, sanding, sweeping, priming, sweeping, painting, sweeping, on repeat. They are so close to the finish line. I'm sure they're so happy to be so close to moving into their new home but man we are going to miss them. It was so much fun having extra people in our house every day. Theo and V will especially miss having baby cousins to play with.
Once Matt is done with helping with their project it's back to work on our fence replacement. And after that it will be replacing the floor of our room. Theo had a serious lapse in judgement when he just wanted to be playing with the babies and left the bath running, and running, and running. When I came back from the grocery store and found he hadn't bathed yet I was so upset. But not as upset as I was about to be! The color completely drained from his face and he ran to the back room to find he had flooded not only the bathroom, but also 3/4 of our bedroom. Thank heavens there is no carpet in there, however, with water squeezing out between floor boards we know that it is only a matter of time before the boards start completely cracking. He immediately started bathing and saying to himself "This is the worst thing I've ever done." The little gentleman immediately offered all his allowance to pay for fixing the floor. So we have that pride in his honor to be pleased about. And some day we'll laugh about the time he flooded the house to play with Levi. Some day. Until then, we'll just use it as a cautionary tale about getting your stuff done when your mom asks and not AFTER you build an amazing block tower.
