TWENTY-SEVEN

We have our favorite rental dog Molly this month! Theo needs a Molly in his life. He can give her rougher squeezes than Salem prefers, she lovingly follows him everywhere and lays behind him while he plays legos or catches bugs. She's always ready to play ball and he's always willing to oblige. I hope we can find our own good girl someday. Though pooping 5 times on a walk seems a bit extreme Molly, rude.

2021 week twenty-seven

Theo took a photo of my focaccia and declared, "Yes! This looks like it should be in a magazine." Basically it's his highest aesthetic level of praise.

You know, just some casual craft Theo made this week... definitely not at all prepping to topple the system over here...

V got her expander out this week! Her hard palate feels so free now.

Casual fence hawk we saw on our way to Theo's last day of swim lessons. He was SUCH an amazing little swimmer in his classes. He made all the adults laugh with his exuberant asides and blew me away with his little breaststroke. I hope he grows to love swimming throughout his life.

Just a normal outfit to wear to normal errands on a normal Wednesday morning...

Sweet girl practicing piano with her beloved giraffe.

That totally relatable feeling when you're trying to carry a giraffe, a cat, your Harry Potter book, and your Egyptian dress is just too dang long...

Her little Hogwarts shrine is slowly growing.

On Saturday we kicked off the long fun holiday weekend with a drive up to the Blue River with some of the cousins to swim and scramble over waterfalls.

Oklahoma was pulling out all the stops and was just magically beautiful.

Plenty of bugs to catch for these two bug explorers.

Theo packed his trusty tupperware because he was sure there would be prime bug hunting.

Behind a part of this waterfall was a little cave. All the kids loved going in there and digging up river clams.

Sunday morning 4th of July car parade around the retirement home.

Molly got to join the fun.

Sunday evening we had our annual 4th of July rib fest. Matt made 6 different flavors of ribs, we had corn, biscuits, watermelon and peach cherry crumble.

Just before the entire grill caught fire...

Sunday evening we went to a field to watch the city put on a fireworks show. There were thousands of june bugs dancing above the grass. Theo cursed himself for not thinking to bring a tupperware. Luckily he procured an empty water bottle and ran around the field with this lantern attracting and catching them. He didn't even care about the fireworks with this many bugs to be had.

Quotes

Theodore

"Ecstatic electricity"

Me- "Theo, where are you going?"
T- "Oh I'm just checking on my wildlife." (Bugs and critters he keeps in a mesh bug habitat)

T- "UGH! I hate chores! Why do I have to do so many chores all the time?"
Me- "Your cousins all have to do chores too. You're not the only one. Even little Tim wipes the table for his family."
T- "Wow, that Tim sure is talented."

Me- "Theo if you do really long strong strokes for your freestyle you'll grow really strong man shoulders when you're bigger."
T- "What? Wow. That is so good." Then he looks at his shoulders confidently.

Looking at a medieval painting of women representing the seven liberal arts, "Are these all presidents? Oh no, they're all girls." Hard truth Theo. Ouch.
