| Theo got an otterpop box and pooped in it. Yes. That. Then he brought the closed box to Matthew and said, "Papa I have a surprise for you." Clearly he was thrilled with his joke. |
2020 week twenty-two
| On Memorial Day we went to Grandma's house to go through all her antique family clothing items. V really loved the fur coat. |
| We found a few boxes of hats and had fun trying them all on. |
| Then V found this hat and dress and was convinced she needed to own them. Grandma was very generous and let us take them home. |
| The next day she looked like she popped right out of Anne of Green Gables. |
| Playdough uniform. |
| This face full of excitement brought to you by a box truck of mulch being dumped in our driveway. |
| You can get free mulch in our area from tree service companies but you can only get it by the full truck load. |
| We spent all day Tuesday shoveling mulch and dragging it all over our yard. Partway through the day, our neighbors came and helped us. We gave them about a third of our load to fill in flooded spots in their yard. |
| We were just exhausted by the end of the day. We got pizza and soda and let the kids do all the work apparently. |
| Our neighbors decided to put their name on the list for a mulch delivery since ours took about a week to come. We thought we'd have a good little break to recover. But the mulch was delivered two days later. It was slightly overwhelming. I never want to hear a shovel scrape up mulch again. |
| Neighbors yard before. |
| Neighbors yard after. They get really bad flooding a few times a year and there were spots with over four inches of standing water. So much more of their yard is usable now. We're all very happy about it. Most of their mulch delivery was cedar as well, so bring on fewer bugs this year! |
| One of our chickens keeps going broody. After the third round of trying to break her we decided to just order some fertilized eggs. As soon as we arrived she was no longer broody... So we had to set up a makeshift incubator and hope and hope that we can hatch them ourselves. |
| The yard work wasn't finished for us this week. Matt set up a second hammock and now this back corner is the most perfect relaxing little spot to sit together and eat a popsicle and decompress. |
| Watching the rocket launch. |
| V had her online recital this week. It was full of a lot of emotions, not many good. But she made it through until the end before she started crying. We miss ballet in person. |
| The Peach Truck came back to Texas this week! |
| This is what 50 pounds of peaches looks like waiting to be made in to jam, canned, or eaten out of hand. |
| The week kept getting better and better. A friend of ours gave us a trash bag FULL of legos and another one full of dress up. The kids couldn't believe their good luck. |
| I spy a little kitten! Our neighbors have kittens that are just about old enough to go to new homes. Our cousins box turtle escaped and we offered them a new pet. |
| And they love it! Diego is going to have such a loving home. |
Quotes
Theodore
"EW! We eat the chicken's poop fruit!"
Me- "Theo you need to stop it. What is go--"
T- "AH! My ear hurts."
Me- "Your ear hurts? Has it been hurting all day? Is
this why you've been such a butthole today."
immediate regret at choice of words.
T- "BUTTHOLE?! BUTTHOLD? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Veronica!
BUTTHOLE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! BUTTHOLE!"
I definitely regret the choice of words.
Veronica
"Mama! It was so hard for Theo to climb the tree. The just couldn't do it but he just persevered until his little blond head poked up!"
