TWENTY-NINE

The kids made a nest for fairies and put the gnome with the fairy garden sign up so they would know the nest was for them.

2019 week twenty-nine
While they slept this spiral of white stones appeared next to the nest as a gift of thanks. V wrote letters detailing the toys they would prefer instead next time. The next morning at 545 they grabbed flashlights and raced out into the backyard only to be met by a disappointing lack of stuffed animals and toy tractors.

My cute bug who wouldn't let me take her photo with her ice crown on.

My grandma Judy sent me a package of some baby photos of my dad and some of his old report cards and a baby milestones book. I loved looking through everything. When I showed V a photo of baby Grandpa Dean she thought it was Theo.

I told V we were going out to dinner at a restaurant this night. She said, "I'm going to go put on my very nicest outfit." This is it, folks.

There was a fun old tractor out in the front of the barbecue place where we met up with friends.

My handsome boy.

Matthew is done with his class! This meant that on Saturday he had to do what we wanted! We went to an estate sale picked up this great Beetles puzzle ostensibly intended for Theo, but it is a bit above him just now.

We got to swim for a bit on Saturday too with our cousins.

Matt has been reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe with the kids. V has been absolutely enchanted. She will actually start to cry at the end of the chapter if Matt wont read more. It has reignited her spark of imagination. She and Theo will play for hours and hours lost in their worlds. She hasn't been playing dress up for over a year and it was breaking my heart. Once we started reading Narnia, all the dress up came out again. We finished the book this week. We did NOT tell her that there was a movie. Sunday morning we casually asked if everyone wanted to watch a family movie and waited to see when she would figure it out. As soon as Lucy was in the wardrobe and felt the trees, her eyes went round and her mouth open mouth smiled. She was squirming in happy twirls for the rest of the film. Then she donned this outfit and ran outside to do battle. She switched allegiance to Susan because, "I thought the witch would have been prettier..."

Sunday is the day I get to go crazy baking to my hearts content. Today I made tiramisu, puffed wheat granola, plum jam (which is my absolute favorite!), and this beautiful 8-strand plaited bread. I had some leftover dough trimmings and let V make her own little plaited loaf. We're really looking forward to dinner.
Quotes

Theodore

Theo and V were playing Queen Jadis from Narnia all day. Theo stopped before running outside to put up one finger and very seriously looked me in the eye and said, "We make it winter but never Christmas you know." Then he nodded and said, "Truly." and ran outside.

Veronica

"Come Theo, we need to go turn people to stone!"

"Fetch my my wand. Fetch is a word that means 'you need to go get something for me.' Fetch it for me!"

Right before bed V was drinking a lot of water.
Matt - "You're going to pee in your bed."
V- "Nope. I'm going to pee in Mama's bed."
