In keeping with my new malaise toward taking photos, we went to Grape Fest on Saturday and I did not take a single photo. I didn't even have my camera, but still. Grape Fest was a huge fair in Grapevine. It was mostly about the local wine and beer, but we had fun looking at everything. We played a game while looking at the booths: Find the most Texan item, and Find the thing you would least like in your house. I can't remember what we decided was the winner of the thing you would least like in your house, but the most Texan good was a leather cross made from old cowboy boots. I promise you, it does not get more Texan than that.
We also saw our dream chicken coop and it was only $200! It has handles and was on wheels and had a caged in chicken run and would be the perfect size for about 4 chickens. I can't wait until we can buy a house and have animals.
The best thing about the festival was a little bakery on the street. None of us wanted to pay the money for the street food but Husband's oldest sister's husband was with us, and he served a mission in France and I was there and well, french, pastries, you know. I don't need to explain. We went inside and apparently they have an in-house pastry chef from France. It was lovely inside and small and smelled heavenly. I ordered an apple tart: puff pastry, pastry cream, sliced apples, glaze, and while I was talking with the cashier I said I had gone to Le Cordon Bleu and missed eating these types of pastries. He had gone to Le Cordon Bleu too! And do you know what that little name dropping got me? Two free croissants. I was tickled. The almond croissant was perfect. It was what an almond croissant should be, and I could barely get a bite in edgewise because Husband was in love with it. I had the butter croissant for breakfast and le sigh. so good. And the apple tart was filled with taste memories of France and London. Oh delicious.
So the best part of the day really had nothing to do with Grape Fest. Oh! and I forgot to tell you. It was 75 degrees and cloudy and windy. :)
