Back in Baja for the first proper week of summer vacation. |
2025 week twenty-three
Theo and his critters: A dead pufferfish. |
Theo and his critters: A millipede. |
Theo and his critters: A bird. |
Theo and his critters: A crab. |
Matt and I watched this cactus wren flit around during the sunrise. |
The sign says, "Mama is cruel." What did I do that was so cruel you ask? I asked her to get away from me because she was throwing sand. Pure evil.
Many moats were built this week. Many moats were quickly destroyed. |
Zoom in to see Theo's sand boobs. He was so thrilled. |
Theo asked to be buried every day. |
We went to Cabo Pulmo to swim around the coral reef. |
It was a long day after swimming in the ocean and a delicious fish dinner on the beach. |
Beautiful breakfasts. |
Matt and my dad went deep sea fishing. They were 33 miles offshore. They saw schools of dolphins and flying fish. Matt said it felt like David Attenborough should have been narrating their trip. |
Matt caught a blue marlin as big as he was. |
And they caught yellowfin tuna. |
They were immediately made into the most incredible sushi we've ever had. |
Leftover tuna and marlin steaks for breakfast with papaya. |
Goodbye Baja! |
Theo got the last touch of the ocean. |
We came home to a couple hatched chicks. Unfortunately it was a very low hatch rate and now we are down to just one chick. |
Our friends had us over for some homemade ramen. It was the best ramen we have ever had. It helps that he is a professional ramen chef. |
After a few days of chores and errands I think we're finally settled from our trip and ready for summer to start in earnest. My dried onions were ready to be braided and hung up. The garlic is curing in the garage. |
Quotes:
Me- "How did I end up with such a wild creature for a son?"
Theo- "That's from Papa's genes."
Me- "Maybe I should have married someone else."
Theo- "Be happy with your purchase!"
